Interview with Rohan Chaubey from Be Rohanlicious

Interview with Rohan Chaubey from Be Rohalicious

Rohan Chaubey

ROHANLICIOUS stands for being Real, Optimistic, Honest, Admirable, Nice, Leader, Inspirational, Creative, Insightful, Opportunistic, Unique and Selfless. Rohan encourages his readers to live up to these standards.

By now I gather you know who I am interviewing. My motivation for such a post was to utilize an amazing mind and highlight a work ethic that is an example to us all.

Rohan appears tirelessly around the internet. Presenting professional opinions and sharing his knowledge.

It seems Rohan has a wonderful ability to make everyone feel included and worthy of his time. However after reading some of his posts, his boundaries are clear and his kindness should never be mistaken as weakness.

There is a story behind every bloggers’ desire for stepping into this tough field. If you are adverse to maintaining discipline, motivation and an extreme word workout, you had better run for the hills as this blogging caper certainly won’t be for you.

So without any further ado, I present you with Rohan’s Q&A.

What inspired you to start blogging?

I used to play on an online gaming site. That site allowed members to write and maintain their own blogs. They had a voting system. Each member on the site could cast a positive or a negative vote on a blog. My posts always used to get hundreds and thousands of positive votes. And in no time I was a popular kid on that gaming site because I wrote entertaining blog posts.

Then I started using the Blogger platform but I didn’t know it was meant for maintaining a blog.

I used it to write something related to Java programming. I never knew that information which I was posting was getting crawled by the search engines.

Later I realized that this can actually be turned into a full-fledged site by getting a domain name.

One of my friends from college insisted, I take up blogging. He used to write codes on his blog and I used to write about the concepts of Java programming at my blog. And at the end of each post we both linked back to each other.

I landed on Swadhin’s post where he reviewed the Aha!NOW ABC community. I don’t exactly remember how I landed on Swadhin’s blog, but I am grateful to Swadhin that he wrote about the Aha!NOW ABC community and I joined the community immediately after reading his post.

So, my interest in sharing what I know and connecting to people is what inspired me to take up blogging.

How long did it take from the time you thought about blogging to taking the action?

I was already blogging unknowingly. But I realized it later when I got to know that there was something called blogosphere.

I wrote my first post at my blog on 20th of August 2014. Before that I used to write blog posts on a gaming website as I mentioned in the above question.

What an exciting milestone. Congratulations is in order as Rohan has just completed a year of blogging. Rohan is showing us what 52 weeks of hard work and diligence can achieve.

I wanted to know how Rohan could zoom around the internet and be seen in so many different areas. As a new blogger I am eager to learn how to extend my visibility without overloading myself.

You go to college, guest post and you are Mr Fix It in the Blogging world. Your blog contains programming, social media and self-development. How do you juggle it all? Do you have a time management system?

That’s an interesting question. I’ve been questioned so many times about how I manage to be present all over the place.

Yes, I go to college and I’m very regular. I guest post at places where I can reach at least one new reader. I’m also the content writer and moderator at STC network. I also handle their social media pages.

I do get requests to fix things. And I dedicate weekends to help people and myself.

I maintain a to-do list and a calendar. The to-do list contains the activities that are urgent. And the tasks that are important are transferred to the calendar.

For example: Haircut appointment is marked on the calendar as it is important. Whereas, writing a post for someone else is placed in the to-do list because it is urgent. This helps a lot.

Rohan has given us an opportunity to see how he manages Facebook. When I first watched this clip, I wondered if he enjoyed his time zooming around this social media platform. His fast pace took me by surprise.

However, when you think about connecting with others and how you want to reach as many people as possible and remain authentic, I felt this was worthy of putting it in this interview. How I approach my interactions on the internet have been changed by this short film and I am still looking for ways in order to yield better results.

If there was one bit of advice you would give to bloggers who are attempting to increase their presence on the internet what would it be?

The Internet is full of self-proclaimed experts. Internet presence and fame fades away with time if we don’t create enough noise consistently.

So I feel the key is — “Law of reciprocity”.

People will be ready to help you if you help them first. Support them first and they will want to reciprocate.

Help one individual at a time, be his superhero and gradually you’ll be seen as a person who is ready to engage and help everyone around you.

And in the long run, this slow but super powerful technique will give your presence a great boost.

I don’t know about you, but I have continually read about this golden rule. If it is repeatedly emphasized by bloggers such as Rohan then it goes without saying that there must be some magic about it. On a daily basis I attempt to read anywhere from 3 to 12 posts and leave comments.

Each day the amount of comments I leave differs because I want to represent myself as authentic and true as possible. Which means if my brain is a little tired or pressured I won’t write as well as I do when I am enjoying everything about being a new blogger. It is on these days that I limit my comments. Because the Golden Rule is a treasure, however being genuine is just as valid. If you read my post on ‘New Bloggers – The statistics are against us’ I talk about what the experts continue to share with us.

What have been the main learning curves you have encountered since the start of blogging?

There is always a learning curve, but I take satisfaction in myself on being a quick learner and action-taker to do more in a short time.

Patience, consistency and prioritizing are difficult to keep up with. Mastering them and learning more will drive your passion.

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by your work load? And if so how do you manage it?

Yes, I do. I’ve to manage studies and blogging together. And I feel I am able to maintain right balance between the both.

Time management plays an important role.

I categorize my activities into — Important and Urgent. And as I mentioned in my previous replies, I break every task into small units and then do them. Or else multitasking leads me nowhere.

We often end up doing things which are not really important and that is why I use some pre-written scripts to turn down trivial requests.

In attempting to direct attention to our blogs we go about our daily routine. There never seems to be any time to spare and yet we must take time to relax as this increases our productivity. I wanted to know what such a busy man like Rohan does to relax and get away from this hectic world of internet.

What do you do to unplug and just relax?

There are many things I do to unplug and relax. I make sure I enjoy everything which I do online or offline. If I don’t like it I won’t do it.

I love studying plants and trees.

I don’t watch TV (though we have 3 televisions at home but I don’t even know how to operate the controller because I never watched it). I prefer watching my favorite shows on YouTube. It saves time as there are less Ads and gives us more control.

Me and my mom play a lot of games together. We mostly play mind games like Chess, Brainvita, Scrabble, etc.

And if there are any holidays or vacations we go to the islands, national parks or anywhere where we can find greenery. We love nature.

Rohan, do you have any up and coming projects that will delight and excite your readers?

Yes, I’m soon releasing my first e-book. I’m super excited because it will serve two purposes:

1.  I’ll be able to help my readers. The e-book is all about strategies to stand out and be heard in this over-crowded world.

Its title is “Make People Want You”. I’m going to share everything that I have learned in a year from blogging.

The e-book can help you win hearts of your readers, clients, influencers, friends and even haters.

I’m hosting a giveaway and giving one copy for free. Just fill this form so I can add your names for a chance to get my e-book 100% free of charge. The following link will have you in the draw for this amazing booklet.

All I want to convey from this book is —

Never jump on the bandwagon. Have the courage to be different and stand up for what you believe in. Share on X

2.  Extensive revenue that will be generated from the sales of the e-book will be donated to a charity. I support education, so I’m in the process of getting my partnership approved with one of the catholic charity organization.

Can you believe this guy? The time and effort Rohan has invested into this work is going to charity. That’s why I find Rohan so interesting. He blogs and gives advice at no cost. He is writing an ebook that will benefit us from his knowledge and it is going to charity. Why are we not surprised this guy is not starting to make some noise around the internet.

I would like to extend my greatest thanks to Rohan for sparing some time to share what makes him tick.

    • Hey Hema,

      Thanks for visiting my blog.

I was so lucky to have prepared this interview just as Rohan traveled past his one year blogging milestone. Congratulations and celebrations. Who would have thought Rohan was only blogging for a year, his passion, knowledge and generosity in sharing his formation is a firm testament to who he is. A stand up guy!

I think it is very interesting to find out why people started blogging because we all have a story. How funny Rohan had been blogging without him even knowing about it. Thanks for your comments. Talk soon.

      Rachel.

  3. Rohan is great guy with great thoughts.

  4. Hi Rachel,

What a wonderful interview! Rohan, I do like everything you have answered here especially your “Golden Rule” whereby people will help you if you help them first. It is the golden rule on the internet if you ask me!

I also find it interesting how you prioritize everything. You do have a lot on your plate, but are able to get things done. Looking forward to your book. I know it will be of great help.

You are amazing when it comes of Facebook…I always see you around liking and commenting. You sure are the true meaning of Rohanlicious and what that stands for!

    -Donna

    • Hey Donna,

Thanks for the visit to my blog.

Since meeting Rohan I have changed many a practice because of his knowledge. How fast he is he on Facebook? Boy was I shocked when I saw this Face book clip.

The Golden Rule seems to come up time and time again by you long term bloggers so when I asked Rohan this question I was not surprised by his answer, but how he framed the answer. He tells it for how it is. It is a slow yet rewarding way of connecting. We all gain a lot from doing this daily. I certainly know I do. Thanks for your generous comments. Talk soon.

      Rachel.

  5. Hi Rachel/Rohan,

What a wonderful interview. Rachel I’m like you, Rohan is very interesting and unique to me also.

I’ve always admired his dedication and hard work. What I like about him most is his willingness to help others.

That’s a gift I can tell he cherish. I appreciate this interview Rachel because I’ve always wondered does he get tired and how does he manage his online activities.

Not watching tv plays a big part alone with his do-list and calendar.

I will continue to learn from you “little buddy” and can’t wait to read and share you e-book.

You both did an excellent job!

    • Hey Vernon,

      Nice to see you.

I agree Vernon, Rohan is a dedicated hard worker. I was curious and wondered if the man ever slept – but as he says he is a fast learner and speed reader. Did you take a look at how fast he zips around Facebook? That changed how I attempt to manage all my social media platforms.

He has a very special way of making everyone inclusive with the information he so freely shares and it is genuine. How can you not be drawn to someone like that?

I met Rohan in my first couple of weeks of blogging and it was a blessing because after reading his Twitter post and watching his clip I was watching his style. I too continue to learn from Rohan. Thanks for such wonderful comments. Talk soon.

      Rachel.

  6. Hi Rachel,

I have known Rohan from the beginning. He is a great blogger. I am impressed with his story as how he became a blogger from a gaming player.

He always bring something exciting to his readers. He is too young and achieved a lot. I am happy to see his success.

He has done so much hard work. Consistency is the key to become better in the field of blogging and Rohan maintained it.

Thanks for letting us know about him more.
    ~Ravi

    • Hey Ravi,

      Welcome back to my blog.

I agree with you, I enjoy Rohan’s success for himself but also for us because we can learn so much from him. I know I certainly have. That is why I wanted this interview, because I got so much from him I knew others would too. He consistently puts out quality posts and shares his experience generously. How can we not be drawn to him?

How he got into blogging is fascinating, I still smile when I think he was commenting on gaming sites and did not know his words were being crawled, how amazing is that. To be doing what we all work hard to and he was doing it naturally and not even aware of it. Great story. Thanks for the comments. Talk soon.

      Rachel.

  7. Hello Rachel and Rohan,

Rachel thanks so much for sharing interview with Rohan. Rohan, I appreciate your time management strategy. Best of luck Rachel and Rohan for your future.

    Thanks & regards,

    Moumita Ghosh

    • Hey Moumita,

      Welcome to my blog.

I hope you gained as much from this interview as I did. Yes I too have been thinking how I can jig my time management a little to get more done, because of what Rohan said.

I can’t wait to read some of your work. Thanks for your comments. Talk soon.

      Rachel.

  8. As usual, another super content from Rachel. I read your articles almost everyday and I always keep a fixed time for this. But my wonders never end here, the more I read your contents, the more I wonder. Love your all the sites, they have always been useful for me.
On the topic, yes, these can be some really valuable tips for me, as I am thoroughly irregular in creating new contents. I would love to focus on inforgraphic on next couple of months. Already selected some very interesting topics on the training and education niche. And yes, I already used content repurposing techniques, worked good for me but surely there are lots of scopes for improvements.
    Best Regards
    Ashutosh

    • Hey Ashutosh,

Welcome to my blog. I am glad to hear you are enjoying my posts, that is a great compliment.

Rohan shares some great tips that’s what made it easy to interview him because he has boundless amounts of knowledge and energy.

The one thing I ensure I do before I do anything else is write each morning. I make sure this is my first task and it is now a part of my morning routine and enjoy it, that is how I get content out weekly. And I carry a pen and paper around everywhere I go because ideas pop up at anytime and I know I will never remember them. Other people get ideas and they use their mobile phones to write down topics that pop into their mind on the run.

Sounds like you have a plan for future writing and I look forward to visiting your blog and reading some posts. I will get there in a couple of days. Thanks so much for your kind words. Talk soon.

      Rachel.

  9. Rachel, a nice little interview and a refreshing dose of inspiration for me as a blogger.

As a tech blogger, I have always been a shy from networking and commenting. Rohan has shown me a few lessons in this world and I have been following them successfully.

An interesting title “make people want you” of his upcoming e-book as someone who is praised by so many readers on the internet, it would be worth reading his views about the same topic and understand the skills required to be “praised”.

Silent reader of your blog and enjoy visiting and reading your articles. Cheers.

    • Hey Ahmad or should I say hey Silent reader of my blog (what a lovely compliment),

      Welcome.

You have me curious now – I cant wait to read some more of your work because I want to see what a shy blogger writes and comments like. How wonderful that even though you feel that way, you break down your own barriers and go forth and attempt to change it. Rather amazing wouldn’t you say?

Yeah, I too look forward to this e-book, and Rohan has a way with writing and his titles are always intriguing, but he does write about being controversial as one of his strategies – I read this in one of his posts. Thanks for your comments. Talk soon.

      Rachel.

  10. Hi Rachel,

It was great to see Rohan here. Moreover, you interviewed him, it was too great, Rachel! 🙂

Yes, I’m familiar with Rohan some time ago. Nowadays I often interact with him via Facebook and other social media sites. It was nice to get to know him and learn from him.

Thanks for bringing this up, Rachel.
Congratulations for your first interview. I will catch up soon!

    ~Nanda

    • Hey Nanda,

Welcome and thanks for visiting my blog.

I am like you, I catch up with Rohan on Facebook, Twitter and Google. It is very enjoyable. Some of his comments have me LOL or in awe with his knowledge and I see him everywhere. That is what I attempt to do – be everywhere because of Rohan’s endless energy. He does a great job at engaging with us all.

So the interview was very easy and I must say enjoyable. Thanks for your comments. Talk soon.

      Rachel.

  11. Hi Imran,

I am so happy to see your comment on my interview. I am so glad I could pass some of my tips to you. I too am shy and introverted, both.

I am excited for my upcoming e-book “Make People Want You”. Thanks for validating my e-book name.

Rachel ma’am’s blog is full of inspiring and thought-provoking material. I too get glued with the content she regularly posts here.

Thank you for always being there to cheer and to guide.

    Love. Rohan. 🙂

  12. Hi Rachel & Rohan
Rohan’s interviews are flooded with motivation for all the bloggers. Rohan has an amazing ability to make things look simple.
I am also a firm believer of ‘law of reciprocity’. In the process of sharing, we gain a lot of things. By sharing, we don’t only exchange knowledge. We share the most important thing: Love. We develop a stronger bond by understanding each other’s problem.
I am glad you are able to find time from your hectic schedule, Rohan. Like you, I am also a lover of nature. You are blessed to have a supportive mom.
Congrats Rachel for your first interview. You have raised important questions. Thanks for this wonderful interview.
    Always be Rohanlicious, buddies 🙂

    • Hey Yatin,

      Great to see you.

Rohan’s presence on social media gets my attention because his knowledge and energy are endless. And I agree he does make everything look easy.

I too an a firm believer of the ‘law of reciprocity’. When I first learnt that reading other blogs was a part of the blogging process, I thought it was going to be a boring task. However because of this very rule, I have gained some wonderful connections, yours, Rohan’s and so many other minds I have met are always surprising and delighting me with your work ethic, inspiring and motivational posts and generous natures. Now I not only participate and enjoy reading and commenting, I support and announce this process whenever I can. The knowledge I have gained because of this golden rule never ceases to amaze me. Thanks for your wonderful comments. Talk soon.

      Rachel.

  13. Hi Rachel,

Wow, I had no idea that his title had a meaning for every letter. Originally, I thought it was a play on his name. Very insightful.

Great interview Rachel. You’ve asked some great questions and it was interesting to learn about Rohan’s perspective on them while sharing advise.

He seems to be very focused. And has a good balance between school and blogging, much to be learned here.

    ~Lea

    • Hey Lea,

      Welcome back.

Before I knew what Be Rohanlicious stood for I thought it was a great marketing idea.

I am a big fan of many but Rohan pretty much made an impact the first couple of weeks I began blogging. I changed a lot of my approach to social media because of what I have learnt from him. And I have been watching his techniques ever since. His time management and juggling so much really blows my mind. I think what Rohan shares in this interview will assist many people. Thanks for your comments. Talk soon.

      Rachel.

Thanks for the visit to my blog.

I am like you Umair, I met Rohan two weeks into blogging and because of his style mine has changed dramatically. Nearly every post Rohan had written (except for Java programming) was added to the interview because it had made me change my approach in some fashion. So you are right when you say it will help newbie bloggers because I am a new to it.

Thanks for your kind words. Talk soon.

      Rachel.

    • Hey Anant,

Thanks for the feedback on Rohan’s interview. It was a great collaboration. I too met Rohan at AHA, probably two weeks into me starting to blog. After I read his Twitter post and asked him a couple of questions, it took me three weeks to clean up my Twitter Account. I had been going about Twitter all wrong, but I was steered right.

I agree I see Rohan and Ikechi (both have my attention in equal amounts) and enjoy sharing with both of them because I get so much out of it. I appreciate you comments Anant. Talk soon.

      Rachel.

  18. A very informative Rachel and Rohan,
Rohan is such an awesome blogger, even though I’ve not really known him too well but I’ve been to his blog and i must confess that he’s really doing a very amazing job over there.

I’ve also been seeing his fantastic comments on lots of blogs and indeed, he deserves all the best.

    Thanks for sharing.

    • Hey Theodore,

      Welcome to my blog.

Thanks for your kind words. It was a wonderful interview. Rohan is very approachable and that is one of the many reasons so many people are drawn to him. Oh and he gives wonderful advice but many other reasons as well. He is doing well and I felt honoured that he had enough time to pencil me in and share with us some of his effective tools.

Many people were truly happy to get to know Rohan a little more after reading this post. I gained so much knowledge by researching Rohan. It was a win-win all round. Talk soon.

      Rachel.

  19. This is wonderful, Rachel. I had no idea you do interviews…? As you know, I have a bit of a soft spot for interviewing bloggers. 😉

Rohan is a great guy, and I’ve been really grateful for the opportunity to get to know him better over the past year.

I really appreciated the opportunity to see some of his thoughts laid out here. Keep up the great work! Best,

    Brent

    • Hey Brent,

      Welcome.

I didn’t know I did interviews until I started learning off everyone on the internet. I think an interview is a great way to research your subject and learn along the way.

A lot of what I do is because of something Rohan has shared with me. So it was brilliant to enjoy this collaborative project with him. He is generous with sharing himself to a loyal following.

      Thanks for the comments, Brent.

      Talk soon.

      Rachel.

  20. Hi Rachel,

It’s until now, I didn’t know that you publish interviews too. Thanks to Rohan for answering late in ABC 🙂

I really liked the way you have assembled the interview, the small adage of yours after each question is enjoying too.

Hey Rohan, I am very glad that I have landed to this page of Rachel & got to know you better. Your learning attitude with a very polite approach is truly inspiring for every new blogger.

Thanks for this awesome discussion. Take care 🙂

    • Hey Manidipa,

The interview with Rohan was my first ever. At the time I was reading a lot of posts that were of interviews. I was following my peers and advice. And because I had learnt so much from Rohan, it was easy to share what he had so generously shared with me.

Manidipa – thanks for the feedback on the adage, I can’t help myself – I have to share what I think is pretty dam good or special. Rohan is very approachable and polite, I think they are endearing qualities. Thanks for your comments. Talk soon.

      Rachel.

    • Hey SEO Cursor

Glad you enjoyed the interview. Hope you got something out of it.

      Rachel
